Linux on the Jornada 720

I own one of these nice toys, but unfortunately it runs Windows CE 3.0, which makes it an unusable toy, at least for the kind work that i do. There are no tools to sniff wireless networks, no good network tools etc.

While some people are actually mad enough to port unix apps to Windows CE, others concentrated on trying to get some unix operating system to run on these machines.

This page documents various efforts to run linux on the Jornada 710/720/728. I update it sometimes but it is frequently (permanently?) out of date.

Linux on the 720 via hpcboot - this page describes booting a linux kernel on the Jornada 720 via hpcboot (NetBSD loader) - this is useful for people which don't have the replacement flash board from HP. It was intended for people who wanted to take the concept further only, not for end users.
